Pizzelles - the Italian waffle cookie

As we enter the holiday season, I wanted to share a recipe with you that my family has used for generations. Buon Natale e Felice Nuovo Anno!!!


6 eggs beaten
2 blocks butter or 1/2 lb. melted
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. anise oil or vanilla
3 cups flour

Mix and drop dough by large tablespoon onto Pizzelle maker. Can make ahead and chill overnight. Option: sprinkle with powdered sugar.

To make chocolate Pizzelles, add 3 tsp. cocoa.
